Bettie Grind

Bettie Grind Brings Attention to the Music Industry in the Carolinas

Coming from a city whose Hip-Hop identity has been for the most part over shadowed by the presence of NASCAR, the banking "Bettie Grind"industry and high profile murder cases, Bettie Grind has been determined to take advantage of his opportunity to bring the eyes and attention of the Hip- Hop entertainment industry to a virtually untapped market, the Carolinas.

And so the journey begins; In 2004-05’ after countless wins on Power 98’s Free-Style Friday show,
Bettie Grind really began to focus on his craft resulting in the release of his first single “POP LOCK” that set the streets on fire!
While receiving rave reviews and mix show spins around the area, this fresh new sound unseen energy has now become part of the DNA bred into the re-birth of Hip-Hop in the Kack.

Bettie Grind has the charismatic styles of the Rap tycoon Jay-Z with the lyrical energy of Rap mogul Ludacris. With the rapidly growing success and support of his followers, Bettie Grind quickly ceased the opportunity to leave his foot print on the crown of his city by performing with Young Jeezy at Summer Fest in Charlotte, NC which then led to him sharing the stage with Lil Wayne, Big Boi and the Purple Ribbon All-stars to name a few and most recently Plies. Bettie Grind is always in the forefront of those who strive to make a name for his city in the music world. He hit home with the collaboration with Anthony Hamilton on the remix of the unforgettable ballad “Charlene”.

The hunt for continued momentum was on now on as Bettie Grind maliciously attacked the mix tape game, releasing raw, potent material such as the self-proclaimed “KING Q.C” and the “G’s Us Is Coming” mix tapes that combined for almost 50K units within a 24 month period. As the streets remained hungry for the preceding word, Bettie Grind struck a pot of gold when his management team set up a meeting with one of the hottest producers in the game right now, Drum Squad founder Drumma Boy! With hits like “Shawty” for Plies and “I Put On” for Young Jeezy the track record was proven. With that being said, the sweltering hot new single from Bettie Grind “DAMMIT I’M FLY” was released.

“I am co-signing this one”. You have to be an artist at a certain level to even ride on one of my tracks and he (Bettie Grind) smashed this one on his first creditable mainstream produced track, says Drumma Boy”. After a few test drives with some of the top DJ’s and clubs in the region the overwhelming response completed the task of breaking the glass on the window that held back an indie artist from claiming the commercial artist spotlight.

Bettie Grind, HOOD SUPASTAR ENT and the Carolina movement are definitely making history and are coming to a city near you!

Love and HipHop Atlanta Recap

Viewers have been buzzing about the newest installment of the Love and HipHop franchise, Love and HipHop Atlanta. The season "Love and Hiphop"premiere was last night, which eventually led to the show becoming a trending topic worldwide on Twitter. As to be expected, there was enough drink throwing, cursing battles, and infidelity to go around.
The 10-episode series of Love and HipHop Atlanta, anchored in a new crop of industry players: Grammy Award-winning producer Stevie J (Diddy, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey), his girlfriend, Mimi Faust, and his protégée, an up-and-coming Latina rapper and former stripper Joseline; rapper Lil’ Scrappy, his girlfriend, Erica Dixon, and his mother, a former hustler known as “Momma Dee”; Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, her manager-husband Kirk Frost; songstress K. Michelle; and Trinidadian R&B singer/rapper Karlie Redd.
In the premiere, the show centers around Stevie J, Mimi and Joseline, who are in a love triangle. Throughout the episode, Mimi deals with Stevie’s ongoing infidelity, and seeks advice from friends who recommend that she kicks him to the curb (no surprise there).  K. Michelle, who just recently escaped a record deal that led to much turmoil, is trying to get back into the industry. She also mentions that the root of the drama with the record deal was her relationship with a record exec that turned sour (she didn’t mention his name, but of course it was Mephitz).

The show also introduced Lil’ Scrappy, Erica and Momma Dee, and all of the baggage that they bring. It seems to be a similar plotline to the Jim Jones/Chrissy Lampkin/Mama Jones battle. Rasheeda is also introduced, but her plotline has not quite developed yet. The cast, however, does come together for K. Michelle’s birthday bash, where things begin to erupt. Karlie Redd, makes a statement that Stevie J and Joseline is an item and were kissing publicly, which sends Mimi flying off the handle. Without resolving the situation with his girl, Stevie jumps into Joseline's car and the two drive off.

Nicki Minaj Cancels Summer Jam Performance After Being Slammed by DJs

A lot of drama ensued yesterday during Hot 97’s annual Hip-Hop music festival “Summer Jam.” Nicki Minaj cancelled just hours before she was "Nicki Minaj"scheduled to perform. The reasoning behind it was Hot 97’s very own DJs Peter Rosenberg and Funkmaster Flex. The two, who have never publicly expressed their disgust for Minaj before, always seemed to be amicable with the rapper.
Not only did Rosenberg slight the Nicki Minaj latest single, “Starships,” but also mentioned that she wasn’t real Hip-Hop.
Funkmaster Flex also said during the show, “We don’t f-ck with commercial rappers anymore. If you lost the streets it’s your fault! I’m dedicated to tearing you down.” When Weezy got wind of what had transpired, he cancelled the set, stating that Young Money would not be performing at Summer Jam anymore (even though Tyga still went ahead and performed).

Nicki Minaj later responded on Twitter and stated, “Wow. U ni–az just f-cked up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB. Had a HELL of a f-cking lineup. But we won’t b disrespected. I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against Wayne’s word. What he says goes.” Nicki had plans that included Nas and the legendary Lauryn Hill to perform in her set. Both rappers still performed anyway.

Summer Jam’s lineup included J. Cole, ASAP Rocky, Big Sean, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross & Maybach Music Group, Slaughterhouse and surprise guests WuTang and Mase.

Check out Peter Rosenberg’s diss that started it all below:

Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean – Boyz Just Want To Have Fun

Summertime is coming and everybody’s feeling young wild and free and it’s good to see that feeling translate into Hip Hop. The leaders of the "Chris Brown Till I Die"new school, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean released a triple threat video for “Till I Die.”

By triple threat I’m don’t mean the guys, I’m talking about the “homies”, the fashion and the goodtime –and let’s not forget the ladies. What else can a young player need for summer 2012?

The 90s inspired video has the carelessness of Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff’s “Summertime” video mixed with the light humor of Tupac’s “I Get Around” video. It is infectious and hilarious.

Snoop Dogg, Redman and Method Man offer their blessings to the video with cameo appearances. With this group of gentleman on one set I can only hope the fumes that are seen throughout the video came from a smoke machine.

“Till I Die” is another reason why you have to love Hip Hop. It is diverse, it can be fun, and it can change your mood and make your day. Whether it is snapbacks and gold chains or complex lyrics that come from hungry underground artists, Hip Hop has become the world’s soundtrack and will be celebrated with good vibes for another summer.
Take a look at the video for yourself and tell me what you think! Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean: “Till I Die”

Lil Wayne vs Pusha T - The Causes of YMCMB vs G.O.O.D

Rap duo Clipse and the unpredictable rapper Lil Wayne, made it a routine to fired shots at each other in rap songs back in 2006.  Clipse made "lil wayne pusha t"accusations that the YMCMB rapper was mimicking their style and Weezy F. Baby was throwing two middle fingers up in response. Looks like old habits die-hard, because they are at it again and Pusha T is the cause of it.

Dropping his lyrical new single, “Exodus 23:1”featuring The-Dream, Pusha T sneaks disses at unnamed rappers in his verses.
Thus, the speculation begins over numerous hip-hop blogs and majority are assuming he’s talking about Lil Wayne, Drizzy, and Birdman when it comes to this specific line:

  • "Contact all f***** up/I guess that means you all f***** up/ you signed to one nigga/ that's signed to another nigga/that's signed to three niggas/now that's bad luck."

Since Young Money, Cash Money and Universal are a three-tier business corporation, the hip-hop fanatics couldn’t help but fill in the blanks.

Furthermore, Lil Wayne adds truth to the accusations by tweeting this:

  • "F*** Pusha T and anybody that loves him"

However, Pusha did an interview with Complex magazine in 2011 expressing how he moved on from the beef with Wayne ever since he was sentenced to prison.  "Ever since Lil Wayne went into jail, that whole little stint between me and him is really dead and over with. I don't have any ill will towards Wayne, Cash Money or any of them. There was definitely a time period when I felt a certain way but as of right now I don't”, stated Pusha.

The plot thickens when fellow label mate Kid Cudi tweeted his defense for Pusha T:
  • "I love my nigga Pusha T, f*** anybody who feels different. We ain't ho's out here,

Let’s take a trip down memory lane when Drake made shots at G.O.O.D music when he released his track “Amen”:
  • G.O.O.D ain’t good enough, and your hood ain’t hood enough”

Could YMCMB and G.O.O.D be the replica of Death Row vs. Bad Boy?
