Sow Much Good Charlotte is Featured in People Magazine

36 million readers will learn about the Charlotte nonprofit, Sow Much Good, in the August 6 issue of “People Magazine” which hit "Sow Much Good people Magazinestands today. Robin Emmons, executive director and founder, is bold and bright in the garden that started it all on a full page of the national publication.

Sow Much Good Inc. is the hub for nutritional education and resources in Mecklenburg County. Since its inception in 2008, Sow Much Good has saved hundreds people from nutritional starvation. The fight against socioeconomic, racial and ethnic health disparities has pushed Sow Much Good to the forefront of the food revolution.

The photo shoot took place in the Charitable Garden behind Emmons’ home one day before her birthday. “This coverage was the best gift I could have received! Access to clean, healthy food is a basic right that no human being should be denied and I am happy that People is taking note,” said Robin.

The Heroes Among Us section spoke about why and how the foundation got started and also featured a Sow Much Good farm stand customer Charlotte resident, Michael Norman, who is taking care of his sister’s kids on a tight budget, “I get a huge cabbage for $1, squash for practically nothing.”

Obesity, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and some forms of cancer disproportionately affect people who live in underserved and underrepresented communities some of which lack a full service grocery store. There are 73,000 people in Mecklenburg County that live in a neighborhood or food desert like this and Sow Much Good’s mission is to serve this population.
